KAIST will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2021. Established in 1971, when Korea was in its first phase of industrialization, KAIST played a pivotal role in the country’s economic growth and informatization. KAIST has transformed into a university that represents Korea in just half a century. Some have even said, “Korea would not exist today if not for KAIST.” It has gained status as a world-class university, receiving worldwide recognition for its innovation, excellence, and distinction.
A galloping horse does not rest its legs. KAIST has served the country and citizens for the past 50 years, and we now move forward onto the global stage. The university has made inimitable achievements by creating unprecedented innovations and envisions being a “Global Value-Creative Leading University” for the next 50 years. It will continue to strive for innovation and embrace challenges to create a better future for humanity.
Based on the C3 spirit of Challenge, Creativity, and Caring, KAIST is driving innovation in five key areas: education, research, technology commercialization, globalization, and future strategies. We will serve as a guiding light in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, deliver hope to Korea and its citizens and, furthermore, contribute to the advancement of humanity.
KAIST dreams. It aims to produce ten singularity professors who will solve the challenges faced by humanity or pioneer new fields, and to achieve the 10-10-10 dream, that is, to foster more than ten decacorn companies worth more than 10 trillion won, and to establish 10 KAIST campuses around the world. In doing so, it will fulfill its vision of becoming a “Global Value-Creative Leading University.”
“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.”
I look forward to your continued support as we move forward into our new chapter for another 50 years during which we will dedicate ourselves to benefitting all of humanity.
