President Sung-Chul Shin met the Pakistani Ambassador to Korea H.E. Mumtaz Zahra Baloch on June 9. They discussed the expansion of cooperation between KAIST and Pakistani universities in the field of science and technology.

On her first visit to KAIST since her appointment as the ambassador to Korea last February, Ambassador Baloch thanked President Shin for the warm hospitality and requested KAIST’s cooperation and support saying, “If the cooperation between KAIST and Pakistani universities could be expanded, it would not only enhance interactions between the two countries but also help the advancement of science and technology in Pakistan.”

To this, President Shin thanked Ambassador Baloch for her dedication and support for the expansion of collaboration in STEM education and R&D between the two nations. He then introduced the case of the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, to which KAIST has been providing turnkey-based education consultancy for Kenya’s first advanced science and technology institute. “We hope KAIST’s knowledge and experience, which led advances in Korea’s economy and science and technology for the last 50 years, will also help Pakistan,” he added.

The meeting was attended by Vice President for Planning and Budget Suchan Chae, Associate Vice President of International Office Man-Sung Yim, and Consul of Social Welfare Muhammad Shafiq Haider from the Embassy of Pakistan in Korea.
