President Sung-Chul Shin visited the Swiss Residence in Seoul on January 31 to take part in a luncheon with Ambassador of Switzerland H.E. Linus von Castelmur.
During the luncheon, President Shin and Ambassador Castelmur compared science and technology ecosystems in Korea and Switzerland and discussed possible cooperation schemes between the two countries in the fields of emerging technologies, including AI, personalized medicine, and blockchain.
Ambassador Castelmur also congratulated President Shin on the opening of the Korean affiliate center of the World Economic Forum’s Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution at KAIST in December of last year. President Shin introduced the Center, explaining that this Korea Policy Center for the 4th Industrial Revolution (KPC4IR) will develop policy norms and frameworks for accelerating the potential and benefits of Korean technology. He also invited his Swiss counterparts to work together on developing core Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in the pursuit of “inclusive growth”.
The Head of the Swiss Embassy’s Science and Technology Office Alessandra Apicella and Deputy Head Jihyun Lim attended the luncheon.
